Background

Hyperion Enterprise is the original benchmark product for group financial, statutory and management consolidation. Enterprise is deployed across the world in over 2,500 organisations serving the group head office finance function. It is a well respected and well proven solution that supports multi-currency, multi-gaap reporting, including the latest IFRS and regulatory requirements. It can be implemented and managed by the finance organisation with minimal support from IT, and can be installed on a distributed basis, across the web or even on a stand-alone PC. Most larger roll-outs of the product involve central deployment using third party Citrix or Terminal Server technology, allowing for a true thin client architecture.

Enterprise offers unmatched ease of use, dynamic functionality that allows the system to quickly adapt to organisational changes, and Sarbanes Oxley compliant auditability and transparency of data.

Oracle now positions Enterprise as a tool for mid-sized organisations though historically it has catered for the needs of much larger corporates including the likes of Astra Zeneca, Diageo, HSBC and Vodafone.

Oracle Ends Premium Support for Enterprise 6.3.1

Oracle has now discontinued premium support for all releases of Hyperion Enterprise up to and including 6.3.1. Enterprise 6.4 is supported until August 2010 however it makes sense to consider an upgrade to Enterprise 6.5 as the most current and most significant of releases to date of the product.

Enterprise 6.5 New Features

This latest release is a landmark in Enterprise history and introduces a number of new features that customers have been waiting some time for.

  • SMARTVIEW - Integration with Microsoft Office (WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT) allowing dynamically linked tables and charts to present the latest Enterprise data. SmartView takes the functionality of data entry, Retrieve, Analyst and aspects of Web Reporting and bundles it together into a dynamically maintained Microsoft compliant data collection and reporting interface. Your users will love it, and what is more Oracle have decided to ship it FREE of any additional charge!
  • New system backup management - Allows backups to be managed when users are still logged into the system. A major bug-bear in previous releases for larger organisations running a centralised architecture across multiple time zones. Oracle has now addressed this with the 6.5 release.
  • Office 2007 and Microsoft Vista support - Keep your Enterprise system compliant with current Microsoft releases. This feature is a major plus point supporting an upgrade. If your IT platform is standardised around Office 2007 and Vista, you need release 6.5.
  • Server Administration Console - Oracle has rationalised the myriad of server technology now supported by Enterprise within a single administrative console, allowing more straight-forward maintenance of existing system resources for the system administrators.
  • Messaging - Along with the new backups functionality, Oracle have also introduced an 'on-system' messaging facility which is particularly useful if the administrator requires to contact remotely located users prior to performing administrative maintenance on the system.
  • Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management (FDM) - Whilst not specifically a new feature for 6.5, we recommend that central deployments of the product run in parallel to an implementation of Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management (FDM). FDM allows drill-back visibility on source file data, assists integration with source ERP solutions and helps automate key upload processes during data submission cycles.

Enterprise 6.5 Fast-Track Package

With the recent announcement of Oracle's support strategy for Enterprise, Concentric can now offer a Fast-Track process for upgrading your legacy versions of Hyperion Enterprise. This package includes all aspects of reviewing, installing and migrating an application to the latest Enterprise 6.5 release.

  • TECHNICAL REVIEW - Review of current technical infrastructure and its suitability for the upgraded solution
  • SOFTWARE INSTALLATION - Installation and configuration of the Hyperion software in a standard environment per recommended specifications
  • APPLICATION MIGRATION - Upgrading of your existing primary consolidation model from a legacy Enterprise software release to the current 6.5 release. Note: This assumes a like-for-like upgrade and covers the upgrade of a single model (quotes can be provided separately if multiple applications are in use)
  • SECURITY REBUILD - Where appropriate, the upgrade will include the build of standard security profiles for use by key users on the system
  • ADMINISTRATOR TRAINING - Our package includes FREE UPGRADE ADMINISTRATOR training
  • ADMINISTRATOR TRAINING using technology based training solutions
  • ROLL-OUT SUPPORT - Concentric will help plan the deployment of the upgraded application and assist in providing upgraded files for roll-out to submitting site locations.

The Fast-Track Package for upgrading to Enterprise 6.5 usually involves the delivery of an upgraded solution within 3 weeks of engaging our services. Terms and conditions apply as non-standard upgrades may take longer, complex technical architectures may require additional installation time and multiple models may require additional time to upgrade. The package does not include implementation of Hyperion FDM though our services team would be happy to quote for such requirements separately.
